Davide Monsorno graduated as an aerospace engineer at the University of Pisa in 2011 (with a thesis on piezoelectric wrinkling suppression in membrane structures) and as an Industrial engineer at Sant'Anna School of Advanced studies in 2012 (with the conceptual and aerodynamic design of a single wing UAV) . He obtained a Master of Science degree in aeronautical engineering at the University of Pisa in 2013, where he developed an actuation strategy for explosive anisotropic metal shell acceleration). His research interests pertain to the field of continuum mechanics and early stage technology development.

In January 2014, he joined the SEDITRANS project as a Marie Curie ITN researcher; his research is conducted as a PhD candidate at Université Catholique de Louvain, under the supervision of Prof. Miltiadis Papalexandris. It focuses on the theoretical and numerical analysis of granular-fluid mixtures, with particular emphasis on numerical simulations in the continuum approximation.
